Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead and scale the operational systems that support our continued growth. This role will oversee end-to-end supply chain operations at our Santa Fe Springs facility, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective sourcing, planning, production support, and distribution of materials across our production pipeline.
This position will drive a data-driven approach to demand planning, material forecasting, inventory optimization, and new product launches from concept through full-scale production. The Director of Supply Chain will be responsible for developing systems and processes that improve visibility, accountability, and efficiency across the organization while strengthening inventory health and operational predictability.
The ideal candidate brings experience in procurement, logistics, and inventory management within the cannabis or hemp industries, along with strong analytical capabilities and a passion for building scalable systems. Key Responsibilities:
Supply Planning & Strategy
- Lead the development and management of the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to ensure raw materials and packaging are always available for production.
- Analyze sales trends and SKU-level usage to forecast material needs monthly and quarterly.
- Maintain clear visibility into short-term and long-term supply needs, adjusting plans as demand changes.
- Work closely with Production, Fulfillment, and Finance to ensure supply planning matches production schedules and business goals.
Inventory & Consumption Management
- Oversee inventory levels, movement, and usage across all products and departments.
- Monitor inventory performance, including turnover, stock levels, and cost efficiency.
- Identify and manage slow-moving or obsolete inventory, creating plans to reduce waste or recover value.
- Partner with Warehouse and QA/QC teams to maintain accurate inventory counts, proper labeling, and FIFO practices.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Lead sourcing for domestic and international suppliers to ensure reliable supply, competitive pricing, and consistent quality.
- Negotiate supplier agreements, including pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to support both daily production and new product launches.
- Track supplier performance using key metrics: On-time delivery, pricing stability, and product quality.
New Product Launch & Onboarding
- Own the full operational process for new products, marketing materials, and merchandise once concepts are approved by Marketing or Executive Leadership.
- Partner with Marketing, Operations, QA/QC, and Compliance to ensure new products are fully supported from a sourcing, materials, and production standpoint.
- Develop BOMs, timelines, and cost models for all new SKUs and marketing initiatives.
- Oversee sourcing and procurement for all launch components, including packaging, raw materials, displays, merchandise, and marketing collateral.
- Maintain a New Product & Campaign Tracker to monitor vendor progress, risks, and launch timelines.
- Continuously improve onboarding workflows to increase visibility, reduce lead times, and improve cross-department coordination.
Data Analysis & Team Leadership
- Build analytical models to project consumption, identify risks, and forecast future needs.
- Present monthly performance reports and insights to senior leadership, highlighting opportunities for cost savings, process optimization, and supplier diversification.
- Lead and mentor the Supply Chain team, fostering urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with state and federal hemp regulations, as well as industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness for supply chain transactions and inventory movements.
- Respond to disruptions or delays and resolve issues with agility and professionalism.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in supply chain, procurement, or materials management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite or similar); experience leveraging data for operational decision-making.
- Proven track record in managing both domestic and international sourcing strategies, optimizing cost, quality, and reliability.
- Strong ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable supply chain strategies.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills; hands-on, results-driven approach to team management and operational execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Familiarity with hemp, cannabis, food, or CPG manufacturing processes is highly desirable.
